Mass-Timber Towers | Kamloops, BC

11 Storey Mixed-Use Development

Phase: Development Permit

Units: 229

Year: Current

Area: 215,000 sf

This 229 unit development consists of two mass timber towers, interconnected by an underground parkade. The development proposes mixed-use commercial shops at grade, offices on the second floor and affordable housing on the remaining 9 levels. Designed for a hybrid mass timber system and exterior slab walls, a lower carbon footprint is sought, using natural materials and prefabricated elements to improve the construction schedule.

A separation between the two buildings lends itself to a pedestrian focused ground plane, where surface parking has been limited to allow for ease of access to shops, transit stations and bike facilities on foot. Splashes of colour and exposed timber and masonry lend themselves to a better ground plane for people on one of Kamloops busiest thoroughfares for vehicles.elopment Permit
