Okanagan Landing | Vernon, BC
Connected Community Masterplan
Phase: Feasibility Study
Year: 2023
Units: 283
This development in Okanagan Landing was a master planning exercise to design a residential community that provides interconnected spaces, active laneways and foot paths to connect the neighbourhood within the surrounding natural landscape of Vernon, BC. The project emphasizes access to the waterfront, bike lanes and hillsides to foster the Okanagan outdoor lifestyle. The active laneways provide neighbourhood connection and traffic calming. The row housing form took a mid-century nod providing private outdoor spaces and hillside views for each unit type. Tandem and side-by-side parking options are shifted and upper floors mirrored to provide further privacy from each unit. To increase density, two apartment building were initially proposed as an affordable housing component to the master plan. This option was developed to work with the City to discuss future road dedication and housing strategies.
